What do we mean when we use the word "environment"? Well, first, let's start with the basics. Our mission is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. The primary way we do this is by creating irresistible environments where people are encouraged and equipped to pursue intimacy with God, community with insiders and influence with outsiders. Everything we do at Tapestry revolves around helping people grow in those three relationships.
In order to do that, Tapestry is organized to function like the rooms in a house, the "environments" in the house. In our homes, we invite guests to the foyer, develop friendships in the living room and grow as a family around the kitchen table.
That's exactly how Tapestry is structured. Every program or event, in other words every "environment," is designed to function as either a place to invite guests (foyer), develop friendships (living room), or grow as a family (kitchen). While some environments may overlap in function, we do not plan events or add programs that will not fit into at least one of these three environments. That way we can make sure that we only do those things that help people grow in their intimacy with God, community with insiders and influence with outsiders, and that we don't clutter our church schedule with programs and activities that consume our time and energy, taking away from the main thing.
